From Technique to Art in Cinematography

Through an enriching conversation, we explore his trajectory, from his first steps to success as a cinematographer. Rui shares his experiences working with foreign and national teams, in large and small scale productions, and takes us on a fascinating journey behind the scenes of the 2012 film «Tabu», a daring project, shot on film in Mozambique and in Portugal, an experience that marked him and for which he is internationally recognized.

Rui also addresses the dual role of the director of photography, oscillating between technician and artist, as well as the importance of gaining experience in various fields of the audiovisual industry. He considers that job diversification is a beneficial experience and an excellent way of learning and integrating into the professional environment.
